Grace Condon Receives Volunteer of the Year Award

Grace Condon, a volunteer at Willow Gardens Memory Care at United Hebrew of New Rochelle, has received the 2024 NYSCAL Volunteer of the Year Award from the New York State Health Facilities Association/New York State Center for Assisted Living (NYSHFA | NYSCAL). The award was presented on May 8th at the 2024 NYSCAL Awards Banquet during the Association’s annual conference in Verona, NY.

Grace collaborated with Willow Gardens over a span of 3 years on her Girl Scout Gold Award. Her project was titled “Bringing Relief to Memory Care Patients”, and she was able to accomplish just that! Her project entailed creating 50 handmade sensory blankets, which she donated to the facility. She successfully completed her project in 2022 and received the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest and most prestigious recognition given to the girl scouts. Grace continues to contribute on her own, to recruit additional groups of volunteers from high school and other girl scouts in the community.

“Grace’s commitment and dedication to our residents is greatly appreciated,” said Nora O’Brien, Executive Director of Willow Gardens. “Her volunteerism is truly exemplary and deserving of this prestigious award from NYSCAL.”

NYSCAL’s Volunteer of the Year Awards Program recognizes outstanding volunteers serving in adult care/assisted living facilities.

Winners received an engraved obelisk and were invited to attend the annual conference.
