Pizza with a Purpose: New Rochelle Students Partner with Local Pizzerias for Super Bowl Alcohol Awareness Campaign
If you get a pizza this weekend it may carry an important message, thanks to the efforts of members of the high school’s SADD Club – Students Against Destructive Decisions.
The students, who are also part of the Westchester County Youth Leadership Task Force, are partnering with New Rochelle’s Gemelli and Deanna pizzerias to place an alcohol awareness sticker on pizza boxes for the Super Bowl weekend.
The countywide pizza sticker campaign invites parents to use their influence to help prevent their teens from drinking. The sticker encourages parents to visit the website “powertotheparent.org” that has a wealth of information for parents to help their children to be alcohol free.
This initiative was created by the Westchester County Youth Leadership Task Force, which includes high school students from all over Westchester and creates initiatives that bring drug free messaging into the Westchester communities. It encourages adults to have conversations with youth around the risk of drugs and alcohol during adolescence.
We’re super excited about this project,” said SADD advisor Pina Palmisano.
The SADD Club meets in Room 133 on Mondays after school.
