Alabama Fugitive
On September 25th, 2024, at about 10:39am, New Rochelle Detectives and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force arrested one Nana K Gyapong who had a full extradition warrant out of Jefferson County, Alabama for 2 counts of Human Trafficking 1st Degree. The FBI Safe Streets Task Force received information that Gyapong was in New Rochelle in the area of Nardozzi Place. New Rochelle Police located the vehicle in the LA Fitness parking lot at 75 Nardozzi Place and Gyapong was placed under arrest without incident shortly thereafter.
ARRESTED: Nana K. Gyapong, 25 years of age, of McLeansville, North Carolina.

Attempted Robbery on Franklin Avenue – Investigation Ongoing
On October 9th, 2024, at about 7:00pm, New Rochelle Police Officers responded to a report of an attempted robbery in the 100 block of Franklin Avenue. The victim, a 66-year-old female resident, reported that a Hispanic male approached her on foot, displayed a silver handgun, and demanded her belongings. In response, the victim began to scream, causing the suspect to flee the scene. The suspect was last seen running into the Harbor House property, where the victim lost sight of him. Fortunately, the victim was not injured and retained all her property. Officers canvassed the area but did not locate the suspect. Detectives have been assigned to the case, and the investigation is ongoing. CPW Arrest
On Saturday October 26th, 2024, at about 1:28pm, New Rochelle Police responded to a report of two women engaged in a physical altercation in front of 71 Lincoln Avenue. Initially assessed as a routine call, the situation quickly revealed underlying complexities. Upon arrival, officers found one of the women visibly agitated and uncooperative. In an effort to assist the woman in calming down, our officers called the Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT) to provide assistance. However, the individual declined help and made a direct threat toward the officers, stating she would “pop” them, a phrase widely understood to imply violent intent. During the investigation, officers discovered that the woman was in possession of a loaded handgun at the time she issued the threat. The situation was carefully managed by our officers, who demonstrated professionalism without having to use force during the encounter. The New Rochelle Police Department remains dedicated to serving and protecting the community while responding to situations with the utmost professionalism.

Motorcycle Accident
On October 2nd, 2024, at about 2:10 Pm, the New Rochelle Police Department responded to the area of North Avenue and Mayflower Avenue on a report of motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle and a utility work van. Upon Police arrival, the motorcyclist was found to be in serious condition with severe injury to his left leg. A passerby who witnessed the accident immediately rendered aid and applied pressure to the injury. Police on scene then applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. The motorcyclist, a 60-year-old New Rochelle man, was taken to Jacobi hospital by ambulance to undergo surgery to his left leg and is currently listed in stable condition. The driver of the utility work van was not injured.
This accident is being investigated by the New Rochelle Police Department Traffic Unit. North Avenue between 5th Avenue and Eastchester Road was cordoned off for approximately 3 hours. Traffic was then reopened in all directions.
Robbery Prospect Street Parking Lot
On September 29th, 2024, at about 2:03am, New Rochelle Police received a report from a victim who stated he was robbed at gunpoint in the Prospect Street Parking lot moments earlier. The victim, a 28-year-old New Rochelle resident, stated two suspects approached him and demanded he hand over his wallet. One of the suspects displayed a silver handgun. The victim described the suspects as a Hispanic male wearing a red sweater and black pants, and a black male wearing all black. The victim said the suspects then fled in a black sedan. Sex Offense Arrest
On September 20th, 2024, New Rochelle Detectives with assistance from the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office culminated an investigation that led to the arrest of one Fernando Rincon for multiple sex offenses against multiple teenage children. Due to the nature of the offenses and the privacy of the victims, the details of the incidents are being withheld. If anyone has any information regarding Fernando Rincon’s dealing with any children who may be victims, they are asked to call New Rochelle Detectives at 914-654-2300.

Stolen Car Arrest
On September 30th, 2024, at about 10:57pm, New Rochelle Police located a stolen vehicle near the intersection of Huguenot Street and Division Street being driven by one Christopher Tejeda- Santiago. The vehicle was stolen out of Hanover Township, Pennsylvania earlier in the day when Tejeda-Santiago took it for a “test drive.” Located in the vehicle were multiple credit cards and cell phones not belonging to Tejeda-Santiago along with a loaded ammunition magazine for a 9mm handgun. No handgun was found.

Two Robberies Reported in Edgewood Park and Union Ave Area
The New Rochelle Police Department is actively investigating two separate robbery incidents that occurred on the evening of October 5th, 2024.
Robbery on Lockwood Ave
At approximately 9:39 PM, a resident in Edgewood Park reported being assaulted and robbed while working on his vehicle in his driveway on Lockwood Ave. The victim described the suspect as an unknown male wearing a black hoodie. The assailant approached from behind, struck the victim, and stole several personal items, including a gold chain, a brand-new phone, and credit cards. The victim believes the suspect fled towards Feeney Park but could provide no further details for identification. Despite an immediate search of the area, no suspects were located, and the stolen phone does not have tracking information available.
Robbery at Local Store
Later that evening, at 11:24 PM, officers were flagged down by a store clerk at 235 Union Ave. The clerk reported a robbery that occurred at around 9:54 PM when a Hispanic male, dressed in a white sweatshirt, entered the store demanding cash. The suspect implied he was armed by repeatedly placing his hand in his waistband. When the clerk attempted to call the police, the suspect seized his phone and threatened him. No firearm was displayed, but the clerk surrendered $150 in cash.
