Wide Variety of Topics Disseminated at New Rochelle City Council RLM

City of New Rochelle Mayor Yadira Ramos-Herbert convened the Tuesday, September 17th Regular Legislative Meeting (RLM), addressing a wide variety of topics, including the Westchester County Youth Bureau Grant of $17,224 to support a Summer Youth Employment Program, running from July 1st through September 30th.
Next, Ramos-Herbert mentioned a proposal from INF Associates for establishing seven dual-port Level 2 charging stations (14 ports) plus three DCFC Level 3 charging stations (5 ports) for a total of 19 parking spaces with charging ports at the new Marina Parking Deck. Recommended funding amount for this project is $270,507 plus a 10% contingency for a total of $297,557.70.
Resolutions included authorizing the City Manager to transfer $5,000 from Councilman Albert A. Tarantino’s 2023 stipend account to the Hudson Park Children’s Greenhouse and transfer of Councilman David Peters’ $5,000 stipend account to the Remington Branch of New Rochelle Boys and Girls Club. The Resolution renaming Lemke Park to James C. Stowe Park was deferred to the Tuesday, October 8th meeting with an accompanying Public Hearing.
City Council accepted the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation’s Climate Smart Communities Implementation Grant of $1,130,000 for Pinebrook Watershed Phase 1 Drainage Improvements.
Another Ordinance encompassing position changes was approved, including replacing Sustainability Coordinator with an Engineering Technician; reclassification of one Semi-Skilled Laborer to Skilled Laborer; eliminate one Mechanics Helper position and replace with Senior Automotive Mechanic.
Stemming from Public Hearings held on Tuesday, September 10th, a Civilian Complaint Review Board was established, whereby each local government with a police agency is authorized to perform a comprehensive review of practices and policies to promote fair and transparent community-oriented policing strategies designed to eliminate racism and racial disparities.
The CCRB shall have a total of seven members; six members composed of one member from each Council District selected by the District City Council member and one member from the City at large, appointed by the Mayor.
