Downtown Summer Sizzle Concert Series Returns to New Rochelle

The City of New Rochelle announces the return of the annual Downtown Summer Sizzle concert series. The public summer concert series, now in its fourth year, brings world-class musicians to the New Rochelle stage for free performances open to residents and visitors alike. Concert go-ers can also enjoy refreshing drinks and delicious bites from a diverse selection of nearby restaurants plus special themed events throughout the summer.

“The Downtown Summer Sizzle concert series is one of the truest examples of New Rochelle’s spirit on display,” said Mayor Yadira Ramos-Herbert. “Watching friends and neighbors flow into Ruby Dee Park with blankets and chairs in hand, as kids frolic on the park green and world-class musicians entertain everyone gathered is an annual tradition that I’m excited that we get to continue. It’s programming that not only brings smiles to faces, but also brings people from our community and beyond to Downtown New Rochelle to enjoy our local businesses, culture and some of the best of what our City has to offer.”

The Downtown Summer Sizzle concert series runs weekly through August 29. Now in its fourth year, the City of New Rochelle and PMG 97 have once again teamed up to present an exciting lineup of nationally touring headliners and award-winning artists, bringing a dynamic mix of genres and star power to the stage.

Making his New Rochelle debut, American Idol finalist Jovin Webb joins the Downtown Summer Sizzle stage this season.

Steve Brown brings the spirit of Bon Jovi to New Rochelle with his tribute band Always Jovi.

The King of Mambo, Tito Puente Jr., returns to the Summer Sizzle stage for the event’s final act of the season.

“Creating programming that the community looks forward to is one of the responsibilities of my role that brings me great joy,” said City Manager Wilfredo Melendez. “Heading into a busy summer, we’re excited for the Downtown Summer Sizzle concert series to bring another year of incredible performances, family-friendly entertainment and experiences to be remembered for years to come.”

Music lovers can also look forward to specialty signature programming including Jazz Extravaganza, Reggae Bash, and Gospel Night, and for the first time ever, the series will come to the Bandshell at Hudson Park in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. In recognition of this historic occasion, the series will temporarily pause its programming at Ruby Dee Park for one week as the City hosts the spectacular July 4th “Spark the Sound” celebration commemorating 250 years of American independence. The evening will come alive with the sounds of Southern Rock and the timeless classics of the Great American Songbook, creating an unforgettable tribute to our nation’s heritage and celebrating America 250 in New Rochelle.
