Candidate Statement for New Rochelle Mayor: Louis Trangucci
As Councilmember I have:
• Supported Senior Development — Craft Building in the “Westend”
• Sponsored additional overtime to increase minimal staffing from 27 to 31 firefighters per shift
• Supported quality of life issues; pot hold repairs, repaving streets, sidewalk repairs and storm water mitigation
• Sponsored and received council support for Salt Dome DWP City Yard, thereby preserving salt and saving thousands of dollars in truck repairs
• Initiated City and School District to work together and provide New Play Field at Columbus School
• Started Winter Play program for the youth at the Boy’s and Girl’s Club Feeney Park branch using my stipend funds and private donations
• Sponsored and received funding from council for Police equipment and training to deal with active shooters
As your Mayor I will:
• Not support any zoning changes for multifamily affordable housing in suburban areas
• Make safety as my first priority “Police and Firefighters”
• Increase funding for more police presence in the downtown
• Focus on youth programs including trade skills training
• Continue supporting the GreeNR Sustainability Plan 2010-2030
• Continue being an advocate for fiscal responsibility; provide value for every tax dollar
• Contine to support funding for the Ten Year Capital Projects plan
• Minimize your tax burden by way of Downtown Development funds and initiate policy chnage for council to review all Tax Pilots
• Intensify efforts to repair potholes in a timely manner
About Louis Trangucci:
• Born, raised, and currently living in Westend of New Rochelle
• Attended New Rochelle public school system
• Graduated Iona University with a B.S. degree in Business Science
• Owned and operated a successful retail business for 18 years “Chow Down Pet Supplies”
• Project Manager, engineering department for a large packaging company for 13 years
• Married for 42 years
