NRYMCA Host Celebration for Mail Carrier Rob Woodson’s Retirement

After 35 years of dedicated service, Rob Woodson, a beloved mail carrier on Route 11 in New Rochelle, is retiring. The New Rochelle YMCA hosted a special retirement party in his honor to celebrate his unwavering commitment to delivering mail, rain, or shine.

For over three decades, Rob has faithfully served the community, ensuring that mail is delivered promptly and with a smile even during the COVID pandemic. A fixture of Route 11, Rob has become more than just a mail carrier to the members and staff of the Y. He has greeted everyone with a warm smile and friendly words, making a lasting impression on all who encountered him.

“The YMCA has been part of Rob’s route for many years, and we’ve gotten to know him as a true friend,” said Dafne Ginn, Membership, Operations, and Community Outreach Manager. “He’s always made the extra effort to brighten our day, and his positive energy and friendly greetings are things we’ll miss. Rob has touched the hearts of so many people in this community, and we are thrilled to honor him as he enters this next chapter of his life.”

“The Y is happy to bring together our community members, elected officials, friends, and longtime neighbors to celebrate such an important milestone in Rob’s outstanding career,” stated Jennifer Ryan Safsel, CEO of the New Rochelle YMCA. “His 35 years here in New Rochelle out of his 38 years of service has made him an integral part of our community, and we want to show him just how much he’s appreciated!”

The party featured light refreshments, a special ceremony, and the opportunity for attendees to share memories and well-wishes with Rob. In fact, Westchester County Legislator Terry Clements presented a Westchester County Proclamation making December 23,2024 Rob Woodson Day in Westchester County.

“Postmen become family to us, and so you will be missed, we are so happy to honor Rob for his 35 years of service. Along with the board of legislators we are honoring Rob with a proclamation but also, with a special day. December 23rd will be known as Rob Woodson day in Westchester County. Thank you for your service to the community for all these years, thank you” County Legislator Clements.

“Rob, your commitment and passion is like no other, I am so honored that you were the delivery person for New Rochelle District #1. Thank you for your service and the hard work you’ve done all these years. I am also presenting you with a Proclamation from the Mayor of the City of New Rochelle, we all thank you, stated New Rochelle City Councilwoman Martha Lopez.
