New Rochelle Police Department Investigation leads to arrest, Execution of a Search Warrant and the Seizure of Illegal firearms and Ammunition
The New Rochelle Police Department announces the successful conclusion of a months-long investigation by their Special Investigations Unit and the Westchester County District Attorney Investigators. During the investigation, a Cooper Drive address was identified as a hub for the assembly and distribution of non-serialized firearms, commonly known as “Ghost Guns.”
On July 8, 2025, NRPD executed a search warrant at the Cooper Drive address, which led to the arrest of Rhandy Thor (56) who was present at the location, and the seizure of multiple illegal firearms and related materials.
The operation underscores NRPD’s commitment to combating illegal weapons trafficking and enhancing community safety.
Detectives recovered the following items during the search:
• One loaded 1911-style Ghost Gun .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol
• One loaded Sig Sauer-style Ghost Gun 9mm semi-automatic pistol
• Two AR-15/AR-4 lower receivers with no serial numbers
• Two high-capacity pistol magazines
• Five Ghost Gun pistols in various stages of assembly
• Approximately 150 rounds of assorted ammunition
• Assorted gun parts used for firearm fabrication

New Rochelle Police Investigate Home Invasion Robbery on Kewanee Road
The New Rochelle Police Department is actively investigating a home invasion robbery that occurred in the early morning hours of July 12, 2025, at approximately 1:25 AM. The incident took place at a residence on Kewanee Road, where a 25-year-old male victim was accosted upon returning home.
According to preliminary reports, two suspects, both armed with semi-automatic handguns, confronted the victim. The suspects assaulted the victim by pistol-whipping him and stole approximately $75,000 worth of jewelry from his person. The victim was treated for nonlife- threatening injuries.
The suspects are described as Black males, both wearing masks, possibly in their 20s or 30s Detectives believe this was a targeted incident and consider it an isolated event for the Kewanee Road neighborhood. The investigation is ongoing, with detectives working diligently to identify and apprehend the suspects.

Shooting Robbery
The New Rochelle Police Department is actively investigating a shooting and robbery that occurred last night, July 15, 2025, at approximately 11:45 PM. The incident took place in the area of Union Avenue and Warren Street, where a 28-year-old male resident of New Rochelle was attacked.
According to preliminary reports, the victim was robbed of approximately $500 in cash, a cell phone, jewelry, and a food order. During the robbery, the suspect shot the victim once in the thigh. An unknown citizen transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover.
