Hundreds Attend Summer Reading Kickoff at Library

Over 400 children, teens and adults attended the “Oceans of Possibilities” Summer Reading Kickoff Party on Saturday, June 25 in Ruby Dee Park at Library Green.
The Party, hosted by New Rochelle Public Library (NRPL) and New Rochelle Downtown Business Improvement District (NRBID) with support from The Friends of the New Rochelle Public Library, featured a mix of activities for children and teens including The Bubble Bus, sea creature crafts, airbrush tattoos, and photos with fun props and The Pout-Pout Fish. Over 200 children signed up to participate in the Summer Reading Challenge, an incentive game which encourages children to keep reading throughout the summer. All registrants (ages 0 -12 years old) received a goody bag, summer reading game board and a free book. Children and teens may continue to register for the Challenge by either visiting the library, or registering online at nrplny12.readsquared.com. Families also received information about the full roster of summer programs taking place this summer at the main branch and Huguenot Children’s Library.
Details about all children’s and teen summer programming can be found online at bit.ly/NRPLCalendar.
