Local Teen Named 2023 "Youth of The Year" by Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle
Selected among four outstanding local teens, Vianney Godinez has been named the 2023 Youth of the Year by Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle (BGCNR). The Youth of the Year title is a prestigious honor bestowed upon an exemplary young person in recognition of leadership, service, academic excellence, and dedication to live a healthy lifestyle.

I would like to alert you to a situation that recently occurred after school hours near Isaac E. Young Middle School. A student was spotted riding a bicycle carrying what appeared to be a gun, but what was determined to be a realistic looking plastic toy gel blaster.

HHREC Honored New Rochelle School District Teacher with Susan J. Goldberg Memorial Teacher Award at Iona University Event
The Holocaust & Human Rights Education Center (HHREC) honored Francisco Sandoval, Social Studies teacher at New Rochelle High School, as the recipient of the 21st annual Susan J. Goldberg Memorial Teacher Award, presented at the annual William H. Donat Shoah Commemoration Event at Iona University on Tuesday, April 25th.

Building A Love of Reading Workshops Return to New Rochelle Public Library This Spring
Educator Kim Block, former Barnard School Pre-K teacher returns to the New Rochelle Public Library, 1 Library Plaza, on Wednesdays, May 3 and June 7 at 4:00 – 4:30 pm to conduct two “Building a Love of Reading” workshops to build confidence and make literacy connections for beginning readers. Parents and caregivers will be introduced to strategies and creative activities including crafts, yoga poses and more to engage their children (pre-K – 2nd grade) as they read together.
