STOLEN CAR ARREST – JUVENILE CAUGHT
On March 12th, 2022, at about 12:00 pm, New Rochelle Police were alerted that a stolen car had entered the city from I-95 corridor. Officers were able to locate the vehicle, a white Dodge Caravan occupied by one male suspect, in the Home Depot parking lot. As the officers approached the vehicle it began reversing out of a parking space. The Officers attempted to stop the vehicle at which time it kept reversing and collided with a police car before fleeing towards Costco on Industrial Lane. A brief pursuit ensued, and officers found that the driver abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. Officers located the suspect, a male juvenile 15 years of age, hiding in the bushes behind Costco. He was subsequently arrested and then released to his grandmother.

Penal Law 165.50 Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree – D Felony
ASSAULT/STABBING ARREST MADE
On February 24th 2022, at about 3:35 pm, New Rochelle Police Officers responded to the vicinity of 309 North Ave on the report of stabbing. The victim, a female in her twenties, was located and had a laceration on her stomach that required medical attention. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The incident appeared to be a road rage situation where a verbal dispute ensued that led the suspect to get out of his vehicle and stab the victim in the lower abdomen.
New Rochelle Police Detectives, working with the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, developed leads that led to a suspect that lives in Greenburgh, NY. On March 7th, New Rochelle Detectives, the FBI and Greenburgh PD located and arrested the suspect without incident after he left his home in the morning.

Michael Thunderhorse, 56 years of age, of Greenburgh, NY. .

Penal Law 265.02 Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree – D Felony
GUN ARREST
On Wednesday March 2nd, 2022, at about 10:00 pm, New Rochelle Detectives stopped a vehicle on Beechwood Avenue for a Vehicle and Traffic Law offense. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Shawn Gilchrest, 21 years of age, of New Rochelle. During the traffic stop, Gilchrest fled in the vehicle and a pursuit was quickly terminated. On Thursday March 3rd, 2022, Westchester County Probation conducted a check on Gilchrest and found him to be in possession of a loaded 30 round extended magazine loaded with 9mm ammunition as well as parts for a ghost gun.
