Gun Arrest Domestic
On Thursday January 5th, 2023, at about 1:26pm, New Rochelle Police were called to a domestic dispute that was occurring on the street at the intersection of North Avenue and The Boulevard. Upon arrival, Police determined there were no injuries but did find the male party, a 21-year-old Bronx resident, to be in possession of a Raven Arms Model MP .25 Caliber handgun. He was placed under arrest without incident.
ARRESTED: Christopher J. Bunting, 21 years of age, of the Bronx.
CHARGES: NYS Penal Law Section 265.03 Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree – C Felony NYS Penal Law Section 260.10 Endangering the Welfare of a Child – A Misdemeanor
Stolen Auto Gun Arrest
On December 29th, 2022, at about 1:30pm, The Westchester County Real Time Crime Center advised New Rochelle Police that a stolen vehicle had entered New Rochelle after having been chased by Greenwich, CT Police and Westchester County Police on the Hutchinson River Parkway. New Rochelle Police and Westchester County Police began to search the area. New Rochelle Police located the vehicle, abandoned at the corner of North Ave and Bon Air Avenue. While continuing the search, New Rochelle Police observed four males walking on Seacord Road, a short distance away from the abandoned vehicle. The four males began to run behind homes on Bon Air Avenue once they saw the police approach. Two suspects were quickly apprehended behind a Bon Air Avenue home and one of the suspects was found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm Glock handgun with an extended magazine holding 29 rounds. A third suspect was caught running on Seacord Road. The fourth suspect was not found. One of the suspects was wanted out of New Jersey for an armed carjacking.
The three suspects were brought to New Rochelle Police headquarters for further investigation and booking.
ARRESTED:
Justin McKinney, 18 years of age, from Kearny, NJ. Frank L.D. Clark, 20 years of age, from Newark, NJ. Eliezer Velez, 19 years of age, of Newark, NJ.
CHARGES:
NYS Penal Law 165.50 Criminal Possession Stolen Property 3rd degree – D Felony NYS Penal Law 265.03 Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree – C Felony
NYS Penal Law 265.02 Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree – Large Ammo Device – D Felony
Additionally, Mr. McKinney was also charged as a Fugitive from Justice for being wanted out of New Jersey for an armed carjacking – NYS Criminal Procedure Law 570.20.
Shots Fired in Building
On December 28th, 2022, at about 6:24pm, New Rochelle Police responded to 2 Lawton Street on a report that a gunshot was fired inside an apartment and went through an adjoining wall and had entered another occupied apartment. There were no reported injuries. Upon arrival, New Rochelle Police Officers and Detectives secured the area and made attempts to contact the resident of the apartment where the shot originated. After a short time, verbal contact was made with the sole male resident of the apartment, who eventually exited and was taken into custody without incident. The investigation is ongoing and a full search for evidence is planned for today after a search warrant is issued.
ARRESTED: Daniel DaSilva, 56 years of age, of New Rochelle, NY.
CHARGES: New York State Penal Law Section 120.25 Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree – D Felony
Additional charges may be added after the search for evidence is completed. Based on the damage between the apartments, the weapon used in this incident is suspected to be a shotgun.
