GUN ARREST

On Thursday February 10, 2022 at about 2:20 am, New Rochelle Police conducted a traffic stop for a New York Vehicle and Traffic Law violation in the area of Van Guilder Avenue.  During the stop, the driver was found to be in possession of Ruger .380 caliber handgun for which he did not have permit and was subsequently arrested. 

ARRESTED: Tijer Moreno, 20 years of age, of New Rochelle.

CHARGES: Penal Law 265.03 Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree – C Felony

 

ARRESTS MADE – STOLEN CAR AND MERCHANDISE

On Monday February 14th, 2022 at about 2:30 pm, New Rochelle Police were alerted by the Westchester County Real Time Crime Center that a stolen vehicle had just entered New Rochelle on Main Street near the Pelham Manor border.  New Rochelle Police Patrol Officers canvassed the area and the vehicle was observed exiting the Home Depot parking lot on Weyman Avenue.  Officers were able to approach the vehicle while it was stopped in traffic at a traffic light. All three occupants attempted to flee on foot; one was stopped immediately at the car and taken into custody; one was apprehended in the New Rochelle Diner parking lot; and the final suspect was apprehended on Main Street near Everett street by an officer on a traffic post.   The stolen vehicle was found to have a large amount of merchandise from Home Depot that was eventually determined to have just been stolen.  

ARRESTED: Rahkeem Goodwin, 19 years of age, of the Bronx.

Male juvenile, name withheld, 15 years of age, from Brooklyn.

Male juvenile, name withheld, 15 years of age, from Staten Island.

CHARGES: Penal Law 155.35 Grand Larceny 3rd Degree – D Felony; Penal Law 165.50 Criminal Possession of Stolen Property – D Felony

 

GUN ARREST

On Tuesday February 15th, 2022, at about 11:54 am, New Rochelle Police Patrol Officers responded to the 35 LeCount Place, the Marriott Residence Inn, on a report from the staff that a customer may be fraudulently using someone else’s ‘Marriott Rewards Points’ without permission to pay for a room.  During the investigation, the suspect was found to be in possession of a 9mm Kimber handgun for which he did not have a permit to possess or carry.  He was subsequently arrested for weapons possession, but no fraud charges were filed.

ARRESTED: Tylique J. Brown, 22 years of age, of The Bronx.

CHARGES: Penal Law 265.03 Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree – C Felony

 

NRPD ASSISTS THE FBI

On Wednesday February 16thh, 2022, at about 3:10 pm, The Westchester County Police Real Time Crime Center alerted the New Rochelle Police Department that a vehicle being driven by suspects wanted by the FBI was driving through New Rochelle in the vicinity of North Ave and Huguenot Street.  New Rochelle Police Patrol Officers found the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however the vehicle fled, and a short pursuit ensued.  While driving Northbound on Webster Ave from Main St, the suspects’ vehicle collided into an oncoming vehicle, injuring that driver who sustained what was reported as non-life-threatening injuries.  

 

The vehicle wanted by the FBI had 3 occupants all of whom were detained by the FBI.  One passenger of that vehicle was injured in the accident and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.  The driver of that vehicle was charged by New Rochelle Police for violations stemming from the pursuit.  Please refer to the FBI for the names and charges on the passengers.

 

DRIVER ARRESTED: Rashad Newton, 18 years of age, of Syracuse.

CHARGES: Penal Law 120.20 Reckless Endangerment 2nd degree – A Misdemeanor; Penal Law 120.05 Assault 2nd Degree – Recklessly Cause Serious Injury – D Felony; and Penal Law 170.25 Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree – D Felony.
