Work Underway on New Marina Parking Deck and Municipal Office
As a further investment in New Rochelle’s infrastructure and waterfront, the Marina Parking Deck, adjacent to the City’s Municipal Marina off Echo Avenue, is being demolished and rebuilt. This capital project replaces a deteriorating structure more than a half-century old with a new parking deck, three garages, and a new office and headquarters for the Marina staff serving under New Rochelle’s Harbormaster. The project is expected to be complete by spring 2025.
The Marina Parking deck and lot are heavily used and a favorite amongst Marina visitors, boat owners, and patrons of Patsy’s restaurant, along with the nearby Marina storefront businesses.
To accommodate Marina customers and visitors during the project, the City of New Rochelle has coordinated public street parking accommodations on Pelham Road to include more public spaces, along with additional parking options for both the public and businesses at nearby Hudson Park. The entrance to Patsy’s Restaurant has been relocated to the west side of the building.
Parks and Recreation Commissioner Vin Parise noted, “We are thrilled that this project is underway. The new facilities will reflect the world-class services we provide and create a welcoming environment to boaters and visitors alike.”
Acting City Manager Wilfredo Melendez said, “This investment in our infrastructure underscores our commitment to the facilities that shape our community, and enhances the overall experience for everyone who comes down to enjoy our beautiful waterfront.”
Councilmember Albert Tarantino said “Replacing the aging parking deck at the Municipal Marina revitalizes this waterfront area and supports the surrounding businesses. The new structure will make the entire area more inviting and appealing.”
