Local Deaf Artist's Work on Display
at Montefiore New Rochelle

Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital is hosting a New Rochelle Deaf Artist’s First Solo Exhibition. The Journal of Deaf Life, now on display and open to the public at Montefiore New Rochelle, takes viewers on a visual journey through Salvador Sanchez’s personal experience overcoming depression.

Captivating oil paintings explore his journey with a therapeutic technique called Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). Surreal self-portraits and futuristic landscapes depict a complicated internal world and tell the story of how Sanchez discovered hope, developed a new identity, and found reconnection through American Sign Language and the Deaf community.
