PAC Teen Artist Council Presents
“Mental Fragments” Exhibition

The opening reception for the Pelham Art Center (PAC) Teen Artist Council curated exhibition, “Mental Fragments” was held on April 22nd. The closing reception and performances will be held on May 6 at 1pm.
PAC Executive Director, Charlotte Mouquin explained that the curatorial team’s theme is about experiencing a life metamorphosis such as the first day of school, early adulthood . . . the stories are layered, complex and about human nature.
Participating artists used a wide variety of media such as acrylics, watercolors, fabric and more.
Artist Anne Sweazey depicted the goddess “Thalassa’ using turkey feathers, sequins, synthetic seaweed and more, decorating a mask used in her radiation treatments.
“All the ideas are concurrent in the show’s timeline and that is why it is called, ‘Mental Fragments’. It’s about pieces of ideas, pieces of identity, demands and societal influences that are fragmented,” PAC Executive Director Charlotte Mouquin added.
During the Program, Mouquin introduced new Team Engagement Coordinator Fiona Agababian and Rosa Van Zandt, Gallery/Events Manager.
“We have 65 artists, all different ages, and we are very excited to have them here today, as we celebrate their success. I look forward to future exhibitions and projects, collaborating with multiple artists,” Van Zandt said. Mouquin added that there was even an 18-month-old artist.
Sponsors included National Endowment for the Arts; County Board of Legislators; ArtsWestchester; TD Charitable Foundation; Westchestergov.com and New York State Office of Children and Family Services.
