A unique and affordable dance instruction program for youths and adults will soon premiere in lower Westchester, thanks to a new partnership between Accent Dance NYC and the New Rochelle YMCA.
Openings are now available for the weekly sessions, for youths and adults. For information and to register, call the Y at 914.632.1818.
Sessions for adults on Mondays offer something for everyone – whether you’re feeling introspective or ready to party.
The Mindful Movement sessions (12-12:45 pm) will focus on how yoga and modern dance practices can enhance the wellness of mind and body. The Latin Social Dances workshops (1-1:45 pm) will explore the whirling rhythms of salsa and Argentine tango.
Tuesdays are for young people. They can learn new moves in the Hip Hop workshop (6-6:45 p.m.) or design and perform their own creative dance works in Choreography (4-4:45 pm).
Sessions will be led by experienced educators from Accent Dance NYC, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing arts education in Westchester and New York City schools and communities. Since its founding in 2018, Accent Dance NYC’s programs have reached more than 4,000 school-age children.
The New Rochelle YMCA is located at 50 Weyman Avenue. The Teen Hip Hop class is free for YMCA members; fee for guests of members is $15 per class. The Youth Choreography class is offered free of charge for students who enroll in the YMCA after-school program (daily, weekly and monthly rates available). For adult classes, call the Y at 914.632.1818 for pricing and eligibility information.
