NRCCS Celebrates Community Champions

120 people attended the New Rochelle Council of Community Services (NRCCS)  annual Awards Breakfast on Friday, April 21st at the Davenport Mansion. Against the backdrop of the sparkling Long Island Sound the Breakfast honored “Community Champions”Angela Belsole, Barbara Davis, and Minister Mark McLean. In addition the NRCCS awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Luis Ayala, a junior at New Rochelle High School.

Local Artisans Creatively Celebrate Makers Month at KRAVE

On March 29th, local artisans gathered to celebrate March Makers Month at KRAVE in New Rochelle. Makers from all over Westchester and the Hudson Valley gathered to socialize, mingle, collaborate, and connect. 

Meals-on-Wheels of New Rochelle Celebrates Its 40 Year Anniversary

Forty years ago, in 1983, New Rochelle, New York’s population was approximately 70,000. According to the 1980 census, about 14,600 or 20% were over the age of 60.  Of those, 4,000 were 75 years or older. The Interreligious Council of New Rochelle (now, The Inter-Religious Coalition) and the Office for the Aging envisioned a much needed home-delivery meals program in New Rochelle.

New Book of Poetry from Matthew Johnson

PAC Teen Artist Council Presents “Mental Fragments” Exhibition

The opening reception for the Pelham Art Center (PAC) Teen Artist Council curated exhibition, “Mental Fragments” was held on April 22nd. The closing reception and performances will be held on May 6 at 1pm.

914CARES Takes Part in World’s Largest Diaper Drive

From May 1-6, Westchester non-profit 914Cares will take part in the World’s Largest Diaper Drive, a collaborative effort by diaper banks across the country. While the collective goal is for all participating organizations to gather 2,000,000 diapers for families in-need, 914Cares’ specific goal for Westchester County is to collect 100,000 diapers by May 6.
