Glen Island Drawbridge Hours Temporarily Altered
Westchester County Parks has received authorization from the U.S. Coast Guard to temporarily alter the operating hours of the Glen Island drawbridge for boaters, due to ongoing COVID-19 testing at Glen Island Park in New Rochelle. This step is being taken so that priority will be given to people who need to enter and exit the park for testing via the bridge’s roadway.
From Thursday, April 23 through Thursday, April 30 the bridge will open on signal during the following hours:
8 a.m. - 10 a.m.
12 noon - 2 p.m.
6 p.m. - 8 p.m.
With 24-hour advance notice from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.
From Friday, May 1 to Sunday, May 31:
6 a.m. - 8 a.m.
11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
6 p.m. - 12 midnight;
With two hours advance notice between 12 midnight and 6 am.
The temporary hours may be extended monthly. Alternatively boaters can access the Sound via a southern route.
The Coast Guard is notifying mariners about this temporary change to the bridge operating hours in its Local Notice to Mariners and via Broadcast Notice to Mariners.
