Suspect Arrested in Connection to Sexual Assault of 13-Year-Old Girl
On November 7, 2024, New Rochelle Police arrested a 19-year-old man in connection to the assault of a 13-year-old girl. The arrest follows an investigation that began when the victim, highly intoxicated, was transported to the hospital and reported that she might have been sexually assaulted. Upon receiving the report, detectives immediately began their investigation. They were able to confirm that a crime had occurred, with the suspect, later identified as Joey Valencia, providing alcohol to the victim, who was 13 years old. Detectives, posing as the victim, successfully made contact with the suspect and engaged in communications. During this interaction, it was reiterated to the suspect the true age of the victim. Despite this, the suspect continued to express interest in meeting up with the victim again, further implicating himself in the criminal activity. Later that evening, detectives arranged a meeting with the suspect. When the suspect arrived, he was taken into custody without incident. The investigation is ongoing, and detectives are working to determine if there are additional victims. Valencia is currently being held for arraignment.

Police Respond to Shooting Incident in the Area of 311 North Ave, One Victim Transported to Hospital
On November 18th, 2024, at about 12:53 PM, New Rochelle Police units responded to a report of two individuals exchanging gunfire in the vicinity of 311 North Avenue. Officers immediately began to investigate the situation and en route, located a gunshot wound victim in the area of Huguenot Street and North Avenue. Upon arrival, officers provided immediate aid to the victim, who was conscious and alert but suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel were requested, and the victim was swiftly transported to a local hospital for further treatment. The victim was found to be in possession of a firearm at the time of the encounter. He is 22-year-old New Rochelle resident and is listed in serious but stable condition. In response to the ongoing investigation, two crime scenes were established: Huguenot Street between LeCount Place and North Avenue, and the area in front of 311 North Avenue, which also included North Avenue from Garden Street to the train overpass. These areas were temporarily closed off to facilitate the processing of evidence by detectives. Both locations were later reopened once the scene processing was complete. The second suspect involved in the shooting incident fled the scene prior to law enforcement arrival. He is described as a Black male wearing red pants and a black jacket. Officers are actively pursuing leads and following up on information that may help identify and locate the suspect. New Rochelle Police Arrest Juvenile for Possession of Stolen U.S. Treasury Checks
At approximately 12:32 AM today, the Westchester County Police Real Time Crime Center (RTC) alerted New Rochelle Police to a vehicle that had entered the city at Eastchester Road & Pelhamdale Avenue, which had previously fled from an NYPD traffic stop. This same vehicle was involved in another fleeing incident in New Rochelle at 7:55 PM the previous evening. Shortly thereafter New Rochelle Police observed the suspect vehicle stopped in traffic at the intersection of Brook Street and Lincoln Avenue. Officers were able to successfully box in the vehicle, bringing it to a stop without incident. The operator, a 17-year-old juvenile, exited the vehicle and was unable to provide any identification or a driver’s license. He was promptly placed under arrest and transported to the police headquarters for processing. During a search incident to arrest, the suspect was found to be in possession of 24 checks from the United States Treasury, made out to 24 different individuals, totaling $91,396.38. Further investigation revealed a local complainant who reported not receiving her Social Security check, prompting the involvement of postal inspectors. They were contacted and advised they would respond to the police headquarters. Burglary Suspect Apprehended
Following Attempted Break-In
On November 6th. 2024, at about 0602hrs today, New Rochelle Police received a call reporting a burglary in progress at a home on Lispenard Avenue. The victim, who had previously been burglarized by the same suspect in August of last year, noticed suspicious activity on her Ring security camera. The footage showed the suspect attempting to break into her home again. As the suspect forced entry through a lower window, knocking an air conditioning unit out of the way, the victim and her daughter, who were home alone at the time, immediately called 911, prompting a swift police response. Upon arrival, officers quickly established a perimeter around the residence. Police observed the suspect inside the home and gave him commands to surrender. The suspect, who was exiting through the same lower window, was apprehended without incident. The victim has an active Temporary Order of Protection (TOP) against the suspect from a previous burglary in August 2023. The suspect reportedly believed his grandmother had once lived at the victim’s residence, although there is no direct relationship between the two. At this time, the exact intent of the suspect remains unclear. Police are continuing to investigate all aspects of the incident. The suspect remains in custody as the investigation continues.
