New Rochelle Public Library Budget Approved; Trustee Corey Galloway Re-Elected
The New Rochelle Public Library’s 2025–2026 operating budget was overwhelmingly approved by voters on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. The official vote was 4,635 to 1,639. The $7,377,667 budget reflects a 4.66% increase over the prior year’s budget and includes expanded funding for programming, materials, and future facility needs.
In conjunction with the budget vote, Trustee Corey Galloway was re-elected to a second five-year term on the Library’s Board of Trustees, which will run from July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2030. Galloway has served on the Board since 2018, and currently chairs the Finance Committee. He has also served as Vice President of the Board for the past 2 years.
“Congratulations to Corey Galloway on his re-election to the Board of Trustees,” said Library Director Eugenia Schatoff. “Corey has been a strong advocate for fiscal transparency. His continued leadership on the Board will help guide the Library through a period of dynamic growth and innovation.”
The approved budget includes an increase in the Library’s programming line to support additional children’s, teen, and outreach programming, helping to meet the growing demand for inclusive and enriching educational experiences. The materials budget has also been increased to maintain a robust core collection and expand access to high-demand e-content. Additionally, a new budget line has been added for capital funding and future projects to ensure the Library continues to serve as a modern and welcoming space for all community members.
“We are deeply grateful to the residents of New Rochelle for their continued support,” said Schatoff. “This budget reflects our shared priorities—expanding literacy, bridging the digital divide, and maintaining a vibrant, state-of-the-art facility for everyone in our city.”
